Biomechanics

If pain is stopping you from being able to do the activities you want, a biomechanical assessment may be the answer.

Our podiatrist will perform a comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment of your body. This will include how you naturally stand, walk and run to identify any abnormalities that may be linked to the pain you are experiencing.

  • 3D scan image of your feet
  • Prescription of bespoke orthotics as required

Conditions treated

Any other complaints affecting the foot or ankle which could be related (but not limited to) the knees, hips or lower back. We treat a range of foot problems including:

  • Big toe pain
  • Heel pain: Plantar fasciitis or other
  • Flat feet
  • Bunions
  • Sesamoiditis
  • Arthritis
  • Shin pain
  • Pain in the metatarsophalangeal joints (2nd -5th)
  • Plantar plate injury
  • Achilles tendon problems
  • Ankle Injury
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Children’s Feet Care

Some treatments may include:

 

  • Bespoke (customised) orthotics
  • Stretching programme
  • Strength and conditioning programme
  • Footwear assessment and advice
  • Supportive strapping and taping
  • Gait retraining
  • Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO) including the Richie brace
  • Onward referral for imaging (X-Ray, ultrasound, MRI) or surgery

Once we have thoroughly assessed and identified the cause of your pain, we will develop a bespoke treatment according to your specific needs.

When attending your appointment please bring several pairs of shoes that you frequently wear (including sports shoes) and any previous orthotics you have had made. Ideally please wear light, comfortable clothing (ideally shorts). This will ensure you can fully enjoy your treatments in a relaxed manner and provide easier access to your feet.
